the weekend’s run adventures both featured this side jaunt into my favorite month of May hawthorn and wild rose grove. the trees are a little run down here and somehow makes me love them all the more. With May being my birth month, these two special and medicinal plants in bloom now, a middle name of 🌹, and hawthorn being the tree of the Irish faeries, this has definitely become one of my special places to run and just soak up wisdom.
they say if you see (or hear) the message three times, it’s definitely time to pay attention and heed the advice. amidst my eclectic order of nutrition exam study materials is this thrice-appearing message: adrenal health. something I’ve been ‘working on’ a lot these past few months. but you know, nowhere on that list does it say ‘try harder’ or ‘add to to-do list’. along with getting a healthy dose of vitamin c and all the other antioxidants, and eating a ‘balanced diet,’ this slow down list is extremely important for short and long-term health. let’s proceed accordingly. 🌿✌️
how to celebrate spring // put strawberries in all the things. this is strawberry tabbouleh which keeps the middle eastern spice and seasoning vibe but changes up just about everything else. 🤷♀️🙋♀️ you can find the recipe on the blog!
“this year I think I’ll make a pancake cake” 😆 borrowed ideas from @gkstories new cookbook, doubled my favorite batch of pancakes, added diced rhubarb and cinnamon to the batter, layered whipped coconut cream, sunflower butter, and chia berry jam, and topped with fresh local strawberries. am pretty sure this is definitely a new 🥞🎂 tradition!
another trip around the sun. celebrating with a few miles of the most peaceful rain, greenest green, and lots of wildflowers.
a tea for the month of May. the hawthorn trees are in full bloom along my usual running route. so too began the wild roses. the sweet violet William and I have both been wanting to grow in our garden mysteriously showed up healthy and in bloom along the fence weeks before we noticed. all together with a few additions from near and far, this is a variation on the @herbalacademy’s tea blend for May. and it is divine.
